Welcome to Sutton Veny W.I Lite

WI Lite is a new twist on the WI, attracting younger women and offering contemporary activities and events, We aim to take the best bits of the traditional WI and give them a very modern makeover.
Recently, the WI has seen the launch of several new “Lite” groups across the UK, with membership about as far removed from the stereotypical perception of the WI as possible.
Sutton Veny WI Lite meets at 8pm on the 1st Wednesday of each month, at the Sutton Veny Village Hall, Sutton Veny, Warminster Wiltshire BA12 7AP. You can just turn up or email info@suttonvenywilite.co.uk if you want to know more. There is a WI annual membership fee of £29.50 . Alternatively, non members can attend for £3 donation on three separate occasions before deciding to join. BYO: Remember girls, teas and coffees will be served, and you can bring your own bottle of wine if you fancy.
Resolutions for National Conference
Every year the Inspiring Women of the WI put forward resolutions for discussion at the WI's National Conference in June. If passed, these then become mandates and form the basis of campaigning activities in the years ahead.
Before the final resolutions are put to the AGM, it has been through a year long debating and consultation process, and been selected from up to 100 other proposals. This process ensures that our campaigns have been through a democratic process involving all members and come from the grass-roots of the organisation.
The shortlist of resolutions has now been chosen and voting forms have been sent out in the November Issue of WI Life for members to cast their vote for the resolution that they support the most. The resolution shortlist is as follows :
- 1. The mandatory clear labelling of food with true country of origin
- 2. Save Our Local Pubs, which are rapidly disappearing from communities
- 3. Reduction in impact of flooding
- 4. Provision of lifelong health and welfare support for armed forces personnel and families
- 5. Dignity and respect for all women in accordance with their human rights
- 6. Access to the Disability Living Allowance mobility component for children under 3 years of age.
All members are able to have a recorded vote as to which resolution becomes the topic all WIs debate in May. The closing date for putting forward your choice from the above list is 20th January 2010. Please use your voting slip in November's WI Life Magazine- or see Lyndsey.
2010 subscription fees are now due, so please bring along the sum of £29.50 cash or cheque at our next meeting. Becoming a member entitles you to free meetings as well as invitations to join the other sub groups, including our planned Stitch and Bitch and Book Club that are to be launched in 2010, as well as other group outings and activities.
